About the book

Most of us were never given a manual for our own head. This is one. Ten floors, each one a skill, each one built on the one below.

It isn’t academic. It takes the good stuff from CBT, metacognitive therapy, ACT and logotherapy, puts it together differently, and says it plainly.

Content. Relationship. Life. That’s the whole book in three words.

Three stages

  • In the Mind (Floors 1–6). In the thick of it. We work with thoughts directly.
  • In Perspective (Floors 7–9). We watch the mind, choose what to make of what we see, and leave room for what we can’t see yet.
  • In Embodiment (Floor 10). You stop doing it on purpose and start living it.

How each floor works

Same shape every time: the idea, a picture to hang it on, then the practice. Every worksheet has a worked example. Tick four out of five on the checklist and climb on. If not, stay another week.

What you’ll be able to do

  • 1Know your own mindCatch what you’re thinking, while you’re thinking it.
  • 2Understand other peopleSee the version of them you’ve built in your head, and get curious about the real person.
  • 3Think more clearlySpot the unhelpful patterns your brain falls into, and check whether a thought is accurate or helpful.
  • 4Own your headDecide what gets your attention, instead of your loudest thought deciding for you.
  • 5Have better relationshipsLess mind-reading, less defending, more curiosity.
  • 6Make better decisionsFrom your values, not your fear.
  • 7Feel more confidentNot because every thought is positive, but because you’re no longer pushed around by them.
  • 8Have more agencyYou hold the pen.
